Our team

Matthieu Le Prado

PhD - CEOMatthieu graduated from Grenoble-INP and HEC Challenge+. He led the CEA lab where 1st Helium-OPMs were used for brain recordings.

Before co-founding MAG4Health in 2021 with Etienne Labyt and Agustin Palacios-Laloy, Matthieu gained extensive experience in technological research. He worked at a prominent research center, CEA in France, where he specialized in developing high-performance magnetometers for space applications.

For ten years, Matthieu led a team of 20 people. Under his leadership, the team strategically pivoted towards a new field: MagnetoEncephaloGraphy (MEG). This shift enabled the validation of a proof of concept and laid the foundation for the creation of MAG4Health.

Matthieu is an engineer from Grenoble INP. His doctoral research focused on optically-pumped magnetometers (OPM). He has been involved in the filing of 17 patents, some of which have been implemented through MAG4Health.

Outside of work, Matthieu is an avid runner and badminton player. He also plays the acoustic guitar and enjoys meditation.

Etienne Labyt

PhD - CMO Etienne is an expert in EEG and MEG. He has worked for more than twenty years in the field.

Dr. Etienne Labyt holds a Master’s degree in cell biology and neurophysiology, as well as a Master’s degree in neuroscience. He completed his training with a university diploma in biostatistics applied to Clinical Research and epidemiology.

He earned a PhD in Neurosciences, where he focused on neurological motor disorders and epilepsy.

Etienne has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles, filed 11 patents, and co-edited a book on MEG.

In 2012, during a meeting with Matthieu Le Prado, the idea emerged to use the capabilities of Helium Optically-Pumped Magnetometers (OPM) to record the brain’s magnetic field. After receiving the European Radar Innovation Award in the “Best Early-Stage Innovation” category in 2017, Matthieu, Etienne, and Agustin decided to co-found MAG4Health in 2021.

Through various collaborations, Etienne, as Chief Medical Officer, leads the applications of MAG4Health’s OPM-MEG system in Neuroscience research and clinical use.

Agustin Palacios-Laloy

PhD - CTOAgustin is expert in quantum technologies and technology transfer. He holds two engineering degrees and a PhD in Quantum Physics.

Agustin Palacios-Laloy holds a dual engineering degree from Ecole des Mines ParisTech and Politecnica de Madrid (2006); as well as a master in Condenser Matter Physics (ENS Paris – Paris XI, 2007).

He earned a PhD in quantum physics, specializing in superconducting circuits, under the supervision of D. Estève and P. Bertet at CEA Saclay in 2010.

Following this, he spent 3 years in Saint-Gobain group, developing energy-efficient active glazing products, gaining expertise in industrial transfer, project management and IP (over 10 patents filed).

In 2013, Agustin returned to public research, joining Matthieu Le Prado’s lab at CEA-Leti Grenoble. His work on optically-pumped magnetometers (OPMs) led to significant improvements in Helium-4 OPM performance, paving the way for their application in MEG.

Currently, as Chief Technology Officer, he leads the R&D team, drives advancements in Helium-4 OPMs, and builds a robust patent portfolio.

Helium-4 has four nucleons, and Agustin is the happy father of four daughters.
